This is my pride and joy of the garden! I have raised hundreds of Monarch butterflies with this perennial! Available for purchase are seeds from a great Butterfly Flower, Aslepias incarnata CINDERELLA, Pink Marsh Milkweed. They grow well in full sun to part sun, depending on your area. This, and other varieties of milkweed, are the only plants that Monarch Butterflies lay their young. Watch the underside of leaves closely for emerging caterpillars. A moth lays their young also, I just don't know the breed. This is a relatively large plant, but thin and erect, growing 4' to 5'. The vanilla scented flowers start a pretty pink, turning to white as they mature in summer. They follow the season with large seed pods that blow in the wind. Seed pods can be collected for next year, or left to naturalize. They prefer moist soil, and grow in wet areas, where other milkweeds will not. I do not water mine, they tend to be very drought tolerant in my zone. They are reliable bloomers and reproduce very well, giving you years of enjoyment. Keep weeds from choking the plant's root system to ensure reproduction. They are very hardy and very little care is needed. I believe the "strong shall survive" in my garden. You will appreciate my motto!
